Backflow preventer winterization

From simple system winterization to complete system upgrade and optimization, our professionals can inspect, optimize, and repair any issues with your irrigation system.

Keeping your irrigation system in top shape is crucial in our dry Central Texas climate and we offer a full range of services to meet your needs. Whether you have questions about dry spots in your lawn, have malfunctioning sprinkler heads or whole zones, need your irrigation wires traced and valves located, or need a whole system design, we are here for you.

Below are some of the common maintenance services we provide. Please contact us to get a quick estimate for more complicated tasks.

  • Irrigation system winterization
Due to relatively mild winters in Central Texas which will not freeze soil down to 6 inches where irrigation pipes are located, a full blow-out of irrigation systems (using compressed air) is rarely done, but it is still necessary to drain the system and backflow preventer before the first hard freeze. We include complimentary complete system inspection and evaluation as part of our service.

  • Spring tune-up
Complete inspection and evaluation of the existing system to ensure all the components for functioning properly, and necessary adjustments to sprinkler and controller settings to ensure optimal water use and distribution throughout the year.
Additional charge might apply if you do not have your as-is irrigation design, and can’t get it from your original installer (who is required to keep it on file for 3 years); we might suggest the annual maintenance option in that case.

  • Annual maintenance
Full inspection and evaluation of the system, replacing all of the rotor nozzles and sprayer filters, adjusting the correct angle and distance of all of the irrigation heads, replacing 20% of all irrigation heads with top of the line models, updating as-is irrigation design, and setting the optimal watering schedule.
We replace 20% of all heads even if they are not currently broken or clogged, in order to go through all irrigation heads every 5 years.

Irrigation in Texas is regulated by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), MC-178, P.O. Box 13087, Austin, Texas 78711-3087. TCEQ's website is: www. tceq.state.tx.us.
